Aladdin | Jafar Pencil Tests - Andreas Deja
Is there a program that can simulate pencil testing? I tried using “pencil” once and the tablet sensitivity is really bad. I don’t know if you can do like…key frame and inbetweens with Flash, can you? Something worthy to look into.
Flash and ToonBoom both do that. Pencil and PAP 4.0 should too, but yeah, they’re not going to be as good since they’re free animation software.
And we’re back!
Model Sheet Monday
“Fantasia” (1940)
I was at the Chicago Comic Convention this weekend and saw some amazing stuff at an animation art booth. They had (in addition to other amazing pieces I will never be able to afford) two model sheets of the Centaurettes from Fantasia. Not the ones pictured though, they were full-bodied. (I just realized I should have taken a picture!)
Sometimes it’s fun just to see the stuff in person.
One of my favorite videos, by Dionysos, with animation of Johann Sfar’s drawings! Get inspired.

I truly cannot say how much I love these few seconds of animation. I got chills the first time I saw it. I don’t what it is about it but it’s just so cool. IIt shows such good balance as it moves forward and the rhythm is just perfect. Sorry being a really weird animation dork now.

The similarities between Satoshi Kon’s Paprika and Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Paprika, a cautionary anime tale where a dream recording device called the DC-Mini is stolen from a psychiatric research facility and the thief causes mayhem by intertwining the patients’ nightmares with the staff’s dreams, helped inspire Nolan’s Inception.
I was just telling someone who kept insisting that Inception was so original with no other influences that they should watch Paprika. But you know, don’t take my word for it.
